Tortoise escapes from a backyard and brings traffic to a crawl

Florida – Fingers are being pointed at a wayward 100-pound tortoise for bringing traffic to a crawl at a Sarasota, Fla., intersection.

Deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Department found the big turtle blocking the road at Webber Street and Honore Avenue Thursday.

“We were able to get the tortoise out of the road. It was quite heavy. It took a couple of people, but we put it in our truck and tried to make attempts to find its owners,” SCSO captain Ron Locke told MyFoxTampa.com.

He said deputies found the owners through Facebook. More
